The Government of the State of São Paulo launched the SINGLE COUNTER system, which promises to reduce the opening time of companies. Since January 15, 2021, in the city of São Paulo, companies have been opening electronically and through a single access, eliminating the traditional steps taken.
To make it possible to streamline the business opening process, six mandatory procedures have currently been unified into one with the possibility of eliminating the municipal licensing phase. They are: Viability, DBE, Fees, Board Registration, CCM, e-CPF Issuance and Municipal Licensing.
The centralization of services in a single process provides a significant improvement in Brazil's position in the Doing Business opening ranking. The government expects to rise to 10 positions in the general ranking, which uses the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for its formulation in Brazil.
The ranking is important because it serves as a parameter and selection criterion for resource allocation, expansion, and innovation analyses. Many domestic and foreign investors use it as a decision-making guide, so the change provides an attractive environment for domestic and foreign investors.
